Since the beginning of the existence of Klub Hanoi’s website, or its official registration as a civic association up to the current form of the registered association South East Asia – liaison, we have been developing contacts and cultural mediation between Vietnam, Southeast Asia and the Czech Republic in the broadest sense. Our mission is to enable people living in these cultures to develop effective communication, mutual understanding and, if possible, friendly relations.
Among our goals, which you can find also in the Statues of the association, are:
We strive to achieve these goals through the following activities:
You can download an informational leaflet in Czech and Vietnamese here.
You can also download a presentation of our activities, background information, and plans.
What we have achieved
We have created:
Within the framework of its activities and in line with its goals, our association:
The association has been fulfilling this aim from the outset by creating a website informing about the region of Southeast Asia, organizing various educational, cultural and social events, publishing a bulletin, publications, translating literature, organizing professional seminars for adults and children, publishing in the media, being present in the media, participating in expert meetings, conferences, and so on. These activities are organized throughout the Czech Republic and sometimes also abroad (in Vietnam, Germany, Portugal, Austria, etc.). We have organized several hundred events and published a number of pedagogical, professional and art works.
Based on our know-how, we introduce innovative institutions into the Czech society (the social interpretation, intercultural assistance, and intercultural mediation professions, the methods of applied research of current problems, etc.), resulting in new professional and non-professional relations. Bilateral relations are developed also as a result of development cooperation projects that the association has in the past implemented and intends to implement in the future. We have, for example, encouraged the introduction of the mandatory A1 level exam for foreigners or the emergence of a new profession of intercultural assistance.
Our information office has already received several hundreds of clients seeking advice on issues related to law, economics, residence, recognition of education, social issues and healthcare, etc. Furthermore, they come to learn Czech and Vietnamese. In addition to that, we refer a large number of clients to other non-profit and other organizations (such as META, Inbáze, IOM Prague, IC Prague, etc.) and at the same time, we encourage these organisations to work more with clients from Southeast Asia.
The association enables the use of the services of intercultural teams of negotiators, facilitators, and mediators in cases of neighbour, marital, and community disputes. This service is very young in the Czech Republic and its spontaneous use in practice is still very rare. However, based on experience from other countries, we believe in a greater use of its potential in the future.
We have created a knowledge base of the state of social work in the SRV and our own methodology of education of children with disabilities in rural regions of the SRV, and a methodology of training of Vietnamese teachers at primary and vocational schools. Our projects in the SRV have numerous outputs with a high degree of sustainability, especially in the areas of healthcare, education, social work and business development in the given regions.
A new element of the association's activities which was added on the basis of the new statutes is the dissemination of the experience gained in other places (cultures) and their utilization for a philosophical discussion about life in Europe and the world generally. We are currently preparing this activity. We expect it to be launched at the annual celebration of our association this year, during which we are preparing various debates on topics of (not only) identities of people in today's world.
